Piranesi

by Susanna Clarke · 2020

Piranesi lives alone inside an endless House of infinite halls, statues, and tides, meticulously cataloguing its wonders and tending to the bones of the dead he calls his ancestors. His only companion is a visiting scholar he calls the Other, who comes twice a week in search of a mysterious Great and Secret Knowledge. When a new visitor's warnings, and strange gaps in Piranesi's own journals, suggest that the House and his identity within it are not what he has always believed, he is pulled toward a truth that will upend everything he thought he knew about himself and the world.
