Kimiko, and Other Japanese Sketches

by Lafcadio Hearn · 1905

Hearn tells of Kimiko, a geisha from the Street of the Geisha who knows the power of beauty and the weakness of passion, and of Ai, the samurai's daughter who sells herself to Kimika to keep her mother alive. Companion sketches follow a tiny nun in her miniature temple of Amida and a mother's grief for her dead child.
