A red-haired boy named Saburo appears one stormy September morning at a one-room mountain schoolhouse, and the village children come to suspect he is the wind spirit Matasaburo. When the gales return, he vanishes as suddenly as he came, leaving only his teacher's word that his father's molybdenum mine is closing.
